About Mecca

A proud resident of DeKalb County, Mecca Anderson is an experienced trial attorney who has dedicated her career to advocating for justice for Georgia families.

Whether she is representing individuals with catastrophic injuries as a civil litigator or prosecuting misdemeanors as an Assistant Solicitor-General, Mecca’s guiding principle has always been to put service over self.

Mecca’s own career trajectory has been influenced by her life experiences. Mecca earned her B.A. summa cum laude from New College of California. Mecca earned her J.D. from Valparaiso University Law School, where she was an award-winning member of the Trial Advocacy Team.

As an attorney, Mecca has dedicated herself to public service and victim advocacy. Mecca began her legal career at the Supreme Court of Georgia where she served as a law clerk to Justice Robert Benham and chief of staff to Chief Justice Carol Hunstein, both of whom Mecca calls mentors to this day. After leaving the Supreme Court, Mecca worked as a litigator at several top-tier litigation firms in Atlanta, handling a broad range of cases including medical malpractice, auto accidents, gun violence, law enforcement misconduct, wrongful death, and complex business litigation. Throughout her career, Mecca has helped recover hundreds of millions of dollars for her clients to help make them whole after suffering from catastrophic injuries and hold wrong-doers accountable.

Mecca continued her commitment to serving her community when she joined the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office as an Assistant Solicitor General in January 2022. In that office, Mecca prosecutes misdemeanor criminal cases including domestic violence, DUIs, and crimes against the elderly. Mecca is the only candidate in this race who has litigated all types of cases that come before the State Court, which has jurisdiction over both misdemeanors and civil cases.

Mecca is active in her DeKalb community and the legal community. Since 2012, she has taught professionalism to new lawyers for the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys’ (GABWA) Professional Development Academy. Mecca served on the Executive Committee for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the DeKalb Bar Association and the DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (now DeKalb Pro Bono).

Mecca resides in DeKalb County with her pup, M.J., and is engaged to be married to her fiancé, Michael.
